Be The Reason

Theme Scripture

Luke 17:29 – “But on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.”

Exposition

Sodom and Gomorrah stood until one man left. As long as Lot remained in the city, destruction could not come. Even his family was preserved because of him.

Throughout Scripture, we see this same pattern again and again, where one person rises, and many are spared.

Because of Queen Esther, a death decree over an entire lineage was overturned (Esther 4:15–16).

Because of Daniel, King Nebuchadnezzar spared the wise men, because Daniel rose to seek the face of the Lord in prayer (Daniel 2:16–24).

Because of David, the Israelites were delivered from fear and oppression when he stepped forward to confront Goliath, daring to face the enemy head-on (1 Samuel 17:32–47).

One person. One decision. One act of faith. And everything changes.

So do not let the threat of sickness keep you locked down. Do not let unemployment silence you or shut you in. Rise as a warrior and confront what stands before you. You have what it takes.

God is within you. God is on your side. God is in your boat. He has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). That word alone should strengthen you. You are not fighting for victory. You are fighting from a position of strength.

Yet many approach the battle as though they are already defeated. But imagine standing before an enemy, already looking like a weakling. The battle is lost before it even begins.

These men and women preserved lives. They preserved generations. They stood in the gap and refused to let the enemy have his way.

They lived out the truth of the Scripture: “You are the salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13).” Salt preserves. And you are that salt, called to stand against decay and destruction.

Noah’s righteousness preserved his household. That is what it means to be salt. We are the salt of the earth. And just as there are different forms of salt, rock salt and powdered salt, each serves a purpose depending on the need. In the same way, God uses people differently, but the assignment remains the same: to preserve, to stand, and to influence.

In Matthew 16:18 we read as follows: “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”

The name Peter means “rock.” A rock is something firm, stable, and dependable; something you can build on without fear that it will give way. While Jesus is the ultimate foundation, this statement shows the kind of person God looks for, someone solid, consistent, and reliable. In other words, become the kind of person God can build on. Be steady. Be grounded. Be strong in character and conviction, so that something lasting can be established through you.

Abraham was such a man. He became a rock in his generation because he walked blamelessly before the Lord. He obeyed. He humbled himself before God. And through him, nations were born, the twelve tribes of Israel came forth.

Let me add here – and this you MUST remember! Salt can also be ground into powder, and this is where humility comes in. We see humility in the lives of all the people we have spoken about. In its powdered form, salt spreads easily. It penetrates and influences everything it touches, shaping the taste of the entire meal. In the same way, when you choose humility, you become more effective. You are able to reach, to touch, and to influence beyond what is visible.

When you rise and make the decision to be the reason, you begin to carry influence. You carry a voice. And as you humble yourself and surrender to God, He will use you to impact people and transform situations. Without humility, true influence cannot flow through you. Don’t forget what is written in James 4:6 – “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” If God actively resists pride, it means pride blocks His working, while humility attracts His grace, and grace is what empowers influence.

So now here is your call to “Be the Reason”:

  • Be the reason why the angel of death will pass over your office, because you are a fiery intercessor.
  • Be the reason why the cycle of divorce is broken in your family, because you waged war against the spirit of divorce.
  • Be the reason why foul affections disappear from your bloodline, because you turned over your plate, fasted for ten days, and sought the mercies of the Lord.
  • Be the reason why nobody in your family goes hungry or homeless again, because you obeyed the voice of the Lord and built a financial ark for your household.

In conclusion, God has sent each and every one of us here for a reason. You need to find that reason, decide to become that reason, and rise to be that reason. It takes discipline, a strong relationship with God, unwavering faith, conviction, and resilience, even in the face of adversity.

So, will you rise up and be the reason?

Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus, I make a decision today to “be the reason”; especially the reason for which you sent me forth into this world.

Make me a vessel of preservation in my family, in my workplace, and in my generation.

Strengthen me to stand firm and not shrink back in the face of opposition.

Give me the discipline, the faith, and the conviction to walk in obedience to Your Word.

Make me salt that preserves and light that shines.

Let my life carry influence and impact for Your Kingdom.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
