Our Women of Love and Faith were out on a mandate to preach the love of God on 6th March 2021 at the Accra Mall. It was a successful event and to God’s glory people surrendered their lives to Christ.

The theme scripture for the day was 1 John 4:7-8 which reads “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love”.

1 John 4:7-8 instructs us to love each other, for God is love. As humans created in the image and likeness of God, we have a huge capacity to love. Unfortunately, oftentimes due to painful experiences, we are filled with so much hurt, bitterness and hatred. We have become guarded because this is our defence mechanism to ensure we do not get hurt again.

This should however not be the case. If we allow ourselves to love regardless of our experiences and in accordance with the will of God, we will get to know that love does conquer all. Unconditional love is your immunity or resistance to hurt, bitterness and pain. Imagine forgiving people when they do things to you and treating them with love anytime they approach you. They may never change, BUT, you will discover that their actions, through your constant show of love, will not have much of an impact on you anymore.

In Matthew 22:36-40, the Pharisees asked, “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

We see from the above scripture that all the commandments are hinged on LOVE. Once you love, you fulfil every requirement. Because if you think about this critically, you would realise that if love leads, or if all your actions are always guided by love, you will not hurt or kill your neighbour; you would not be covetous; you would not bear false witness against your neighbour, etc.

We are in perilous times and as we prepare to meet our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, let us not forget that He left us with THE greatest commandment, which is love! How are you faring on your love mandate? How will Jesus rate you when it comes to love? Love is the greatest commandment and will no doubt be a yardstick for judgement.

John 13:34 says “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Your demonstration of love is what will make people know you are a disciple of Jesus. So the message here is very simple. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! Let us love God and let us love each other.

The mandate is huge but God’s grace abounds!
